Books are my teachers, friends and entertainers. When choosing my next book to read, I try not to limit myself by subject or genre. Some books I read for their literary value or the knowledge they offer, others – for pure enjoyment. Among the latter are genres like horror, sci-fi, and fantasy.
I became a fantasy buff several years ago, when a friend recommended George R.R. Martin’s series A Song of Ice and Fire. The first book in the series, A Game of Thrones, got me positively hooked. My love affair with the genre had begun. After having read Martin’s series up to book five and then his short stories, I started looking for other authors. Below is a list of fantasy books that I’ve particularly enjoyed so far.
A Game of Thrones: A Song of Ice and Fire: Book One by George R.R. Martin
A Clash of Kings (A Song of Ice and Fire, Book 2) by George R.R. Martin
The Warded Man by Peter V. Brett
The Desert Spear by Peter V. Brett
In Her Name: Empire by Michael R. Hicks
